The expansion of EUROPARK is visibly taking shape. Construction work is proceeding according to plan and marks an important milestone in the continued development of one of Austria’s most successful shopping destinations. The expansion will create additional space for new retail and gastronomy concepts, thereby enhancing the center’s appeal in the long term.

EUROPARK Salzburg is steadfastly continuing on its path toward the future: since January 2026, work has been underway to expand the center by approximately 6,000 square meters of additional space. With an investment of more than EUR 40 million, a modern expansion is being built on the site of the former parking lot between EUROPARK and SPAR’s headquarters and is scheduled to be completed in time for the center’s 30th anniversary in fall 2027. No new ground will be paved over.

Work is moving forward as planned. The concrete shell has already been erected up to the floor of the parking deck on the roof, and the ceiling connection was completed in the last few days. At the same time, steel construction for the second floor has already begun and will be completed by mid-August. Work on the façade will also be completed before the start of the new school year in fall. Simultaneously, the interior work is progressing rapidly.

Construction work is taking place while the center remains fully operational, with business in the mall continuing completely undisturbed. The pharmacy, which has temporarily relocated to the outdoor plaza, and McDonald’s will be moving into their new, modern, and expanded spaces at EUROPARK by mid-November of this year.

Construction will be completed by fall 2027; until then, individual stores and gastronomy concepts will continue to open in the new wing of the building.

With more than 130 stores currently open and annual sales most recently exceeding EUR 400 million, EUROPARK is one of Austria’s most successful shopping destinations. The expansion lays the groundwork for the long-term development of the site and for adapting it to the changing demands of modern shopping malls.

“The annex to the existing EUROPARK complex opens up fantastic new opportunities for retailers, gastronomy outlets, and service providers in Salzburg, while ensuring that the complex blends seamlessly with the existing structure. Although the selection is becoming more extensive and larger, the expansion is hardly noticeable visually,” emphasize SES Supervisory Board Chairman Marcus Wild, SES CEO Christoph Andexlinger, and EUROPARK Center Manager Manuel Mayer.
