SILLPARK, the largest inner-city shopping center in Innsbruck in terms of area, and which attracts over 5 million visitors a year, is to remain fully operational while it undergoes modernization and is enhanced with a very special innovation: in a first for Austria’s shopping malls, a health park of more than 3,000 m² in area is being built here. This is being made possible by the recently agreed cooperation between the SPAR subsidiary SES Spar European Shopping Centers and the Vinzenz Group, one of the leading experts in healthcare facilities. The health park in SILLPARK will strengthen the regional healthcare provision for the inhabitants of Innsbruck, and gives the green light for this cooperation throughout Austria. The health park forms part of a large-scale modernization of the entire shopping mall. SILLPARK’s owner SES is investing over EUR 30 million in total in creating a timeless and modern spatial experience throughout the site.

The corresponding building permissions were requested from the relevant municipal authority in the city of Innsbruck in September 2024, with construction planned to start in mid-2025. The renovation project will commence as soon as the official approvals are received, and the completion of the modernization and the official opening of the health park are planned for fall 2026.

Strengthening the regional healthcare provision
At the end of July, Austria’s market-leading shopping center operator SES signed a partnership agreement with Vinzenz Gruppe Service to develop service-oriented health parks together at selected SES shopping sites, and strengthen healthcare in the long term. The first of these health parks is now being constructed on an area of 3,000 m² on the second floor of SILLPARK in Innsbruck, thus making a significant contribution to the regional healthcare provision.

Opening up the mall in SILLPARK for an even greater sense of space
With the motto “fresh, young, trendy”, the focus of the modernization activities is on remodeling the shopping mall, including state-of-the-art technology and opening up the space inside the SILLPARK building. As an example, in future there will be even more natural daylight in the areas that have artificial lighting today. The shopping center will remain fully operational during the renovation.

Christoph Andexlinger, CEO SES Spar European Shopping Centers:
“As well as our strong, highly professional partnerships with our shop operators, restaurant proprietors and service providers, the success factors of our shopping destinations also include the optimal location, perfect accessibility via public transport, and the large-scale parking facilities, all exemplified by SILLPARK. In future the mix of sectors in Sillpark will be enhanced by many services relating to improving people’s health. With this step towards multifunctionality, we will ensure that the popular, highly frequented SILLPARK in the heart of Innsbruck remains fit for the future.”

Michael Heinisch, CEO of the Vinzenz Group:
“We need to establish modern and sustainable healthcare where people spend their everyday lives. The SES shopping malls are such meeting and living spaces where we can provide the population with health and prevention services in a simple and uncomplicated way. With the go-ahead in SILLPARK, the first milestone of our joint venture will now be laid in Innsbruck”, says Michael Heinisch, CEO of the Vinzenz Group, about the cooperation.
