Gastronomy establishments at SES shopping centers reported extremely positive expectations of the first day of the Austria-wide opening of gastronomy facilities. In compliance with official COVID-19 regulations, guests are once again allowed to be welcomed and served on site, which is particularly appreciated by regular customers. Morning service offers following the gastronomy lockdown, which include breakfast and coffee, have gotten off to a gratifyingly good start, and establishments have also enjoyed above-average lunchtime fill rates. In addition to the gastronomy opening, an increase in visitor footfall is also expected as a result of the restoration of the extended opening hours that were customary prior to the onset of the coronavirus. The free testing services that are available directly on site at all SES centers also benefit gastronomy operators.

At long last, the wait is over: The wide range of food and beverage options offered by gastronomy operators at SES shopping centers have been reopened for on-site dining services. The initial assessment shows the degree to which people have missed being able to visit gastronomy establishments. “We, as well as our gastronomy partners, are very pleased with the results of the first few hours. As expected, our customers are thrilled about the opening of the eateries, which is evidenced by the footfall generated at the malls. Regular customers are particularly excited about having their first cups of coffee at their favorite local establishments. The number of reservations received by the gastronomy operators is also promising,” says Christoph Andexlinger, Chief Operations Officer at SES Spar European Shopping Centers.

Well Prepared for Safe Operation
Gastronomy operators across all centers are well prepared for the reopening of on-site services. Procedures include the verification of access credentials as well as guest registration, both of which have been working smoothly since the very first moment the facilities were re-opened. A negative COVID-19 test, proof of recovery, or proof of vaccination are prerequisites for entry to gastronomy establishments. Moreover, SES is continuing to step up the hygiene measures at its centers, which have been certified by TÜV AUSTRIA.

Free Testing Service Supports Gastronomy Establishments
Free rapid antigen testing, which is offered at nearly all of SES' 17 Austrian shopping centers, supports gastronomy establishments and makes them easier for customers to visit. “Thanks to the on-site testing facilities, our visitors can once again combine shopping with a spontaneous coffee break or a stop at an eatery,” says SES Managing Director Andexlinger.

Regular Opening Hours at All SES Centers
Once again, regular opening hours are in effect across all SES centers. Gastronomy establishments are now permitted to stay open until 10:00 PM.
