A representative survey conducted by the Linz Market Institute found that approximately 40 percent of all Austrians intend to buy gift certificates for Christmas this year. Hundreds of thousands of jobs in brick-and-mortar retail benefit from the local purchase of gift certificates, today more than ever. The “Zehner”, SES’s gift certificate, ranks among the most popular vouchers in brick-and-mortar retail. It can be redeemed at 12 shopping centers throughout Austria. The “Zehner” can be purchased online as well as directly at the centers and can be redeemed at all shops, restaurants, and service outlets at the respective malls. An increasing number of companies use the gift certificate as Christmas presents for their employees.

The results of the survey conducted by the Linz Market Institute, on behalf of SES Spar European Shopping Centers, which included 1,000 participants, have revealed that approximately 40 percent of the population is planning to purchase gift certificates as Christmas presents this year. Fifteen percent of survey participants are certain to buy gift certificates, and nearly 25% are very likely to do so.

Buying “Zehner” Gift Certificates Supports Brick-and-mortar Retail
“The results of the survey and our own observations in selling the “Zehner” have confirmed that gift certificates will be among the most popular Christmas presents this year. The purchase of gift certificates from the region's most popular shopping centers not only strengthens brick-and-mortar retail in today's difficult situation, but it also secures jobs and national purchasing power in the medium term. Each and every one of us has a huge responsibility, which is something that many people are not aware of,” explains Marcus Wild, CEO of SES Spar European Shopping Centers.
