SES Spar European Shopping Centres is the market leader for large-scale shopping malls in Austria and Slovenia, and is now strengthening its position on the Slovenian market. The contract for the purchase of the ARKADIA retail park in Domžale, north-east of the capital Ljubljana, was signed on Wednesday, 11 June 2025.

In 2024, the shopping malls managed by SES Spar European Shopping Centers (SES) even exceeded the previous year’s excellent results. Retailers, restaurants and service providers in SES malls generated gross sales revenue of EUR 3.54 billion, an increase of 6.5% on 2023, showing how SES centers in Austria and Slovenia outperformed the market as a whole.

LICHT INS DUNKEL has been helping children with disabilities and families at risk of poverty in Austria for more than 50 years. This year SES is supporting the unique fund-raising campaign by selling EUR 10 shopping vouchers (“ZEHNER” in German) in 13 SES centers in Austria. The ZEHNER is one of the most popular gifts bought in the SES malls, especially at Christmas.

There are positive signs from the representative survey on the upcoming Christmas shopping season that was undertaken in September for SES and for the Austrian population by the Linz-based market Institut: planned expenditure on gifts is up markedly in comparison to last year. More people than last year state that they will mainly be buying their Christmas presents from brick-and-mortar stores – in other words in shopping malls and on high streets.
