One of the most popular shopping centers in Innsbruck – SILLPARK – was first opened on 17 October 1990. A great number of exceptional highlights and changes have occurred over the last 30 years, which have helped to establish SILLPARK as THE inner-city shopping destination. Nowadays, the center is both a customer favorite as well as an important economic driver for the city of Innsbruck, and it also provides jobs for 700 employees in retail, gastronomy, and services. In celebration of its anniversary, the center is offering its customers even more top brands at the new 4,000-square-meter PEEK & CLOPPENBURG store, which opened on 1 October.

At the time of construction, SILLPARK was the largest building construction project in the city and has continued to set new superlatives: In 2007, its expansion to approximately 30,000 m² made it the largest city center shopping destination. In 2015, an investment in the amount of 20 million euros was spent on the complete refurbishment of the ground floor and the INTERSPAR market, thereby ushering in a new era of feel-good shopping.

SPAR Board Member KR Hans Reisch recalls the launch of the successful location: “SILLPARK marked the opening of the first large shopping center owned by the SPAR Group in Austria that included strong anchor tenant INTERSPAR. It was a milestone in the history of the Group and its strategy regarding the development of large-scale retail properties. Back then, we picked up on a trend that continues to this day. Now, the extremely positive development of the center over the last 30 years speaks for itself. It proves the consistency of the brand and that SILLPARK still very much remains close to our hearts – with respect to both the management team and our customers.”

“SILLPARK shopping center has become an integral part of the city of Innsbruck. It has strengthened the eastern part of the city center for 30 years. We are living in a time marked by extraordinary challenges, and I am glad that SILLPARK is home to numerous strong entrepreneurs. Not only is it beneficial economically, but it is good for the local population as well. I would like to offer my congratulations on this 30th anniversary, and I have high hopes that success will continue for a long time to come,” says Innsbruck's Mayor Georg Willi.

Strong Operator, Innovative Future
In 2007, SILLPARK became part of the SES Spar European Shopping Centers portfolio, in which all shopping center activities within the SPAR Group were consolidated into an independent business unit. Since then, the company has continuously invested in the development of the center.

SES CEO Marcus Wild explains: “Location, store mix, and quality of stay are the most important criteria for retail properties. Innsbruck's largest inner-city underground parking garage, which is located at SILLPARK, is undergoing complete renovation and is scheduled to be finished in November. In addition to housing the city's most modern INTERSPAR hypermarket, we have now reached yet another milestone: The world's newest PEEK & CLOPPENBURG has recently opened at the center. The opening will go far to strengthen the city center of Innsbruck."

Sustainable Superlatives Right from the Start
The in-house hydroelectric power plant, which has been in operation since the beginning and is state-of-the-art, is also unique. Such technology is just one example of how SILLPARK contributes to climate protection; a number of sustainable measures are also place, with regard to center operation, such as the use of LED lighting and demand-controlled ventilation. The center can cover nearly half of its energy requirements using the clean electricity that it generates itself. The construction of the power plant was also carried out in an environmentally friendly manner, and a so-called "fish ramp" was specifically created for the fish.

THE Trendsetter
From the outset, the primary goal has been to offer customers the things that they want. SILLPARK has always been prepared for future developments, as is reflected in its store mix, which offers visitors an extraordinary shopping experience: from the trendiest and most popular brands to top gastronomy and innovative start-ups. SILLPARK is home to the most modern INTERSPAR hypermarket in Tyrol, was the first to attract customer favorite SNIPES to Innsbruck, and has the only MANNER store in Tyrol. In addition, the opening of the first PRIMARK store in Austria on 27 September 2012 ranks high on this list of achievements. A completely new era of fashion was ushered in, which has enjoyed unbroken popularity to date. The opening of PEEK & CLOPPENBURG on 1 October 2020 will once again elevate the fashion range available at the center to a new level. “We have managed to secure yet another fashion giant just in time for our 30th anniversary. The addition of PEEK & CLOPPENBURG has made the variety of brands on offer at SILLPARK simply unbeatable,” rejoices Center Manager Markus Siedl.

SILLPARK – a New Meeting Place for Brand Lovers
The new PEEK & CLOPPENBURG location covers more than 4,000 square meters and promises a selected assortment of internationally recognized brands, such as Guess, Calvin Klein, and G-Star, as well as popular in-house labels, such as Jake*s and Review. Numerous boutiques are also represented, including brands such as HUGO, Tommy Hilfiger, Polo Ralph Lauren, Boss, and Marc Cain. The new P&C store is also distinguished by a high-quality range of evening and cocktail wear for special occasions, with exclusive brands Jake*s and Christian Berg proving particularly impressive. The athleisure and sneaker area, which caters to a younger target group and includes the latest trends in urban and sporty styles, is a special highlight. Collections by adidas, Nike, Ellesse, Champion, and Levi's are available in the boutique areas for men and women alike.

Commitment to the Region
As a result of its commitment and due to its location, SILLPARK is very closely connected to the region as well as its inhabitants. In collaboration with local partners, such as the City of Innsbruck, the State of Tyrol, various clubs, and schools, a number of unique concepts and projects have been implemented that provide added value to the area (free weekly mother/parent counseling, an ice skating rink, in-house company daycare, free chess lessons, and children's facilities, such as Mini Lollipop, etc.).  “As a local supplier, we offer our visitors so much more than just a shopping center. We are a meeting place that has something to offer for everyone and invites visitors to stay. We attach great importance to being able to provide customers with a range of other services and offers, in addition to the traditional shopping experience,” says Center Manager Markus Siedl, describing the basic social concept of the center.

A Look toward the Future
SILLPARK intends to maintain its status as a popular urban meeting place as well as a trendsetter for its visitors via experiences, great gastronomy, culture, and shopping opportunities.
