On Wednesday, 16 February 2022, the mayor of Lienz, Elisabeth Blanik, project development partners Alexander Eck of SES Spar European Shopping Centers and Michael Hellweger of Kronberg International, as well as hotel managing director Harald Ultsch of harry’s home were all extremely pleased during a joint inspection of the construction site for the planned hotel project in Lienz’s city center. The legally binding decision permitting the construction of the hotel was announced at the end of January, paving the way for further steps in the project. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2022.

Given the fact that the concept for the retail part of the shopping district still has to be adapted to the changing market conditions caused by the pandemic, the planning for the associated hotel project in Messinggasse was brought forward to 2021. At the end of January, the legally valid building permit was issued, thereby clearing the way for the concrete implementation of the project. The aim is for preparatory construction activities to commence and for construction to begin in the spring of 2022. Exact dates are still dependent on the weather, the tender process, and the availability of construction companies.

“Now that legal certainty is given, we can finalize the tenders for the individual trades. We expect to have completed the tender review process as well as all associated discussions before Easter. Then, we will be able to provide more specific information about the project itself and the commencement of construction. In the meantime, we will have to wait and see,” says Alexander Eck, Head of Development at SES Spar European Shopping Centers, the project operator, optimistically.

Mayor of Lienz Elisabeth Blanik: “The increase in the number of beds on offer is of great importance for Lienz as a commercial location. On the one hand, it increases footfall in the town and boosts purchasing power in the region; on the other hand, it has the potential to improve the utilization of tourist offers.”

3-star Superior Plus Hotel harry’s home Coming Soon
Featuring 85 rooms and 170 beds, harry’s home in Lienz will offer its guests modern 3-star superior plus comfort. Founder and Managing Director Harald Ultsch of Innsbruck: “We are happy that the project is finally on track. harry’s home Lienz is set to be our 14th overall location and our second in Tyrol. harry’s home specifically seeks locations that allow for year-round hotel operations. In addition to the target group of city and business travelers, we also appeal to families and sports enthusiasts. Guests have numerous options to choose from, which enables them to tailor their stay to suit their individual needs.”

Michael Hellweger, Managing Partner of the Kronberg Group, emphasizes, first and foremost, the excellent cooperation that has been established with the city of Lienz and the relevant authorities: “We have always had the pleasure of dealing with competent and constructive contacts, who gave us their full support during the approval phase.”
